Type 1 is a widely used connector in the US and Japan and is SAE J1772 connector. Type 2 connector used with the common name, Mennekes connector, is the preferred choice for the connector and is expected to witness significant growth during the forecast period. Type 3 connector is also known as Scame connector after the name of its manufacturer. Type 2 is the second most widely used connector after Type 1. In terms of the charging level, the market for electric vehicle connector has been segmented into Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4. Charging level depends upon the power output of the charging station and the corresponding time required to charge the battery of the electric battery. Level 3 is the preferred charging level segment, on account of its ability to charge the fully drained battery to 80% in less than 10 minutes. Level 3 connectors are used for fast charging and supporting voltage rang between 200 and 600 volts.
