Clariant to Increase Masterbatch Production Capacity

Switzerland: Clariant, a Switzerland based manufacturer of specialty chemicals, has announced plans to expand its production capacity for manufacturing additive and color masterbatch for application in high temperature plastics and engineering resins. The company plans to invest around USD7.54 million at its existing manufacturing facilities in North America, Asia and Europe. The largest investment would be directed towards the production facilities in Singapore, Shanghai and two plants in the US. In Shanghai, Clariant plans to install new equipment for the start of its new production line, which is expected to commence operations by the end of 2016. The new production line for the production of black masterbatch and specialty engineering compounds at the existing manufacturing facility at Holden, United States, would commence operations by the first quarter of 2016.

TechSci Research depicts that the expansion of masterbatch production capacity in North America, Asia and Europe would enable the company to address the growing global demand for masterbatch for application in high temperature plastics, thereby improving its presence in the global masterbatch market.

According to TechSci Research report Global Masterbatch Market, By Type, By End User, By Region, Competition Forecast and Opportunities, 2011 - 2021”, global masterbatch market size is estimated to cross $16 billion in 2016. Growth in the market is anticipated on account of continuously increasing demand from major end use industries, such as packaging, food processing, building & construction, and automotive industries.
