Sulphur Black Production Plants in India are Functioning at More than 300% Capacity Utilization Rate, Providing a Good Scope for Setting Up of New Manufacturing Units

Sulphur black is of high commercial importance owing to growing applications in the dyeing industry. Among all the dyestuffs, Sulphur black is the major black dye used worldwide. Ease of manufacturing coupled with incessant growth in demand for black shade dyed denims and cotton & synthetic garments is encouraging the production of Sulphur black dye for the India textile industry.

Sulphur Black dye is available in powder, granules and liquid form, having high degree of properties than other cotton dyes available in market. Good color fastness properties such as light fastness, wash fastness and cost effectiveness makes Sulphur black an important class of dye. This dye can be applied on garment, fabric by exhaust, semi continuous or continuous dyeing methods. Further, the availability of dye in various commercial forms such as solubilized, conventional water insoluble and leuco form is providing the consumers with a wide choice of selection, thereby increasing demand for Sulphur dye.

Installed production capacity for Sulphur Black in India was 3 thousand metric tons in 2015, whereas the production was 9.38 thousand metric tons in 2015. Production of Sulphur black has increased from 6.58 thousand metric tons to 9.38 thousand metric tons during 2013 to 2015, however, the installed capacity was constant during the same period of time.

Indian Textile Industry is currently estimated at USD108.5 billion and is expected to reach USD226 billion market by 2023. India is the second largest producer of Cotton after China and also the 2nd biggest producer of silk. Good export market and rising demand for the textile products in India, makes it a preferred country over China for other various textile products across the globe. Consequently, the India textile industry is emanating large demand for sulphur black for dyeing applications. In order to capitalize on the expanding demand for sulphur black, manufacturers of sulphur black are operating production facilities at more than 300% per annum. Booming textile industry of India offers lucrative opportunities for investments in the India sulphur black industry over the forecast period.
