Flipkart & Myntra launch Japanese brand
India: The two e-commerce giants have signed a
deal with Japanese sportswear brand Mizuno to sell its products in India. The
introduction of this company will create more interest among sports and fitness
in the country. Mizuno, was founded in Osaka, Japan in 1906, which manufactures
sports equipment, especially golf clubs and accessories. Meerut based Stag
International, is the exclusive retailer, which will be distributing Mizuno’s
products, Stag International also distributes international brands such as Adidas and Nike.
Online
route is increasingly gaining focus by Indian shoppers, and it is expected to
account for around 3.5% of total sales by 2020, Moreover, orders are expected
to get double by 2016, there were 5 million orders in 2013, and this figure to
get double to 12 million by 2016.
According
to a research report published by Techsci
Research “India
E-commerce Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2020”, the country’s e-commerce market is
projected to grow at a CAGR of more than 36% during 2015-2020. E-services
segment, which comprises online travel, online payments, online classifieds,
etc., is expected to continue its domination through 2020. However, the e-tail
segment that includes electronics, apparels & accessories, health and personal
care, etc., is expected to witness significantly higher market growth compared
to e-services segment over the next five years. During 2015-20, the western
region is expected to remain the largest e-commerce market in the country.
Major players operating in India’s e-tail market include Flipkart, Snapdeal and
Amazon.
According
to TechSci Research, e-commerce channels are considered to be an important
route by international brands for entering any country, especially developing
countries like India, where the online sales are at a booming stage, as the
path and ways provided by these companies for doing shopping, are increasingly
gaining focus by the shoppers. Moreover, international brands which are not
currently in India, are preferring these sites to offer their products as its
policies are supported by the government, which is considered to be the biggest
hurdle in doing business abroad.
