Chemtura Strategizes to Expand Polyurethane Elastomers Production in Italy
Italy: Chemtura
Corporation, a US based global manufacturer of specialty chemicals, plans to
expand the production capacity for manufacturing Adiprene Low-Free (LF) MDI
polyurethane elastomers at its existing facility located in Latina, Italy. The
expansion is expected to be completed by the end of 2016 and would complement
the existing LF MDI production capability of the company at Gastonia, US. Adiprene
LF MDI prepolymer forms a part of the premium MbOCA replacement technology of the company. This technology
offers superior performance in the most arduous and provides enhanced
processing over MbOCA-free alternatives. Urethanes division of Chemtura
Corporation is one of the largest player in urethane coatings and polyester
polyols, specialty aqueous urethane dispersions and hot-cast prepolymers.
TechSci Research depicts
that the expansion of Low-Free (LF) MDI polyurethane elastomers
production capacity would enable the company address the growing customer
demand for coatings and dispersions around the world on account of growth in
the construction industry. Additionally, this facility would provide
flexibility for the Gastonia facility to manufacture different LF prepolymers.
According to TechSci Research report, “GCC
Construction Chemicals Market By Type, By End User, Competition Forecast & Opportunities, 2011 –
2021”, construction chemicals market in the GCC region is projected to
grow at a CAGR of over 7% during 2016 to 2021. Concrete admixtures and
waterproofing chemicals are the most widely consumed construction chemicals in
the region, due to growing use of these chemicals in residential and commercial
structures. Demand for protective coatings as well as adhesives and sealants is
also growing in the region. Other major construction chemicals consumed in the
GCC countries include flooring chemicals, grouts, mortars, anti-corrosive
agents, etc.
