Wanhua Chemical Group isophorone established a new di-isocyanate (IPDI) plant
China: Wanhua Chemical Group,
involved in the manufacturing and sales of polyurethanes and petrochemicals,
has opened a new state of the art IPDI plant in Wanhua’s 10 square mile Yantai
Industrial Park. The isophorone di-isocyanate plant employs the latest phosgene
production technology with an integrated supply chain. Wanhua has decided to market
the IPDI monomer under the Wannate brand. IPDI is majorly used in UV resins, waterborne
polyurethane dispersions and adhesives. Additionally, the IPDI trimer are used in
high performance, non-yellowing polyurethane coatings for applications including
automotive refinish. Wanhua would be the first company based in Asia to use the
complete “IP-IPN-IPDA-IPDI” industry chain technology.
TechSci Research depicts that the startup of the new isophorone
di-isocyanate plant in China by the Wanhua Chemical Group would address the global
market needs for high performance products including polyurethane coatings. In
addition, it would aid the expansion of the product portfolio of the company.
