Covestro and Nanodax Comes Together to Develop Polycarbonate Composites
China: Covestro, a German-based manufacturer of high-tech polymer
materials, has signed an agreement with Tokyo-based NANODAX on the development
of innovative polycarbonate composites reinforced with glass wool. The joint
development work will be performed primarily at Covestro´s Polymer Research
& Development Center (PRDC) in Shanghai, China. Covestro is among the world’s
largest polymer companies and its business activities are aligned towards the
manufacture of high-tech polymer materials. The main segments it serves are the
automotive, electrical and electronics, construction and the sports and leisure
industries. On the other hand, Nanodax, was the first company to industrialize
glass wool reinforced resins in the world and is now pushing forward various
resin reinforcement technology developments.
TechSci Research
depicts that this agreement would cater to the growing demand of polycarbonate
composites across various end user industries like Automotive, Packaging,
Consumer Goods, and Electrical & Electronics, among others. Moreover,
technological advancements in polycarbonates will altogether increase the
market size and growth in engineering plastic industry globally.
According to TechSci Research report, “India Engineering Plastics
Market Forecast &
Opportunities, 2020”, the India engineering plastics market, in value terms, is expected to
grow at the CAGR of approximately 13% during 2015–2020. Growth in the market is
anticipated on account of increasing application of the product in various
industries, wherein engineering plastics are fast emerging as substitutes to
traditional engineering materials.
