Wacker Sets Up Technical Center and Subsidiary for Construction Chemicals in Colombia

Chemie, a US-based provider of basic chemicals, has opened a new technical
center and subsidiary for construction chemicals in Columbia. The new technical
facility will function as a development and testing laboratory for dispersible
polymer powders, which are required as binders in the construction industry. The
new subsidiary is also representing company’s biotechnology and silicone
divisions. The demand for chemical raw materials, especially the dispersible
polymer powders, has boosted in the Latin America in the past few years owing
to which company is working towards strengthening its presence in the region. The
new technical center in Bogotá in Columbia, serves as a local research and
development facility for polymer binders for construction applications. Company’s
aim is to prepare formulations containing VINNAPAS® dispersible polymer
powders, which are used in dry-mix mortars for tile adhesives in the
construction sector.
