INOVYN expected to setup a potassium hydroxide manufacturing facility in Antwerp, Belgium
Belgium:
INOVYN Deutschland GmbH, a
Germany based chemicals manufacturer, is expected to setup potassium hydroxide
(KOH) evaporation unit at its Antwerp / Lillo site in Belgium for the production of KOH. The company has already placed an order for the plant equipment
to Bertrams Chemical Plants. The new KOH production unit of the company is
expected to manufacture 155 kilotons of KOH along with 100 kilotons of chlorine
using the latest membrane technology. The construction of this plant is in line
with the chlorine strategy of the company. The KOH production plant is expected
to be operational by the end of 2017.
TechSci Research depicts that
the construction of new KOH manufacturing facility would enable INOVYN to
supply KOH to its customers across the globe. In particular, the biofuel
industry would benefit from the increased availability of KOH, which is used in
abundance during the transesterification process to convert vegetable oils into
biodiesel.
According to recently published TechSci Research report “United States Fuel Additives
Market Forecast and Opportunities, 2020”, US fuel additives market is projected to
grow at a CAGR of over 6% during 2015-20. Abundant
availability of biomass feedstock used for production of biofuels and mandates
issued by the US Environment Protection Agency (EPA) on biofuel consumption are
expected to drive the demand for fuel additives in the US through 2020.
