Hain Celestial Announces Acquisition of Orchard House
The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. is an organic and natural foods company has announced the acquisition of Orchard House Foods Limited, which is a prepared fruit, juice, fruit desserts and ingredients company.
The acquisition took place by Hain’s wholly owned subsidiary, Hain Celestial United Kingdom.
Orchard House supplies to retailers, food service providers, on-the-go food outlets and manufacturers in the United Kingdom. With this acquisition, Hain Celestial have an opportunity to leverage Orchard House’s expertise, with brand names such as Ella's Kitchen, Hartley's, Johnson's Juice Co. and Sun-Ripe.
Orchard House’s Managing Director, James Skidmore will report to Jeremy Hudson, Chief Executive Officer of Hain Daniels Group.
Orchard House was founded in 1985 and was owned by Wellness Foods Ltd. The acquisition requires a clearance from Competition Market Authority in the UK. Financial results of Orchard House will be consolidated in Hain Celestial UK.
According to TechSci Research this acquisition would expand Hain’s presence in fresh category which includes prepared fruits, drinks and desserts. Orchard’s presence in Europe provides Hain Celestial with an opportunity to expand into fruit product segment in Europe and development of new products like pressed juice and branded fruit products offerings. It would help Hain to develop new food processing technologies with which Hain can improve the shelf life of its products like fresh fruits and Juices.
According to a recent report published by TechSci Research “Global Organic Food Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2020”, the UK’s organic food market stood at around USD2.60 billion in 2014, growing at a CAGR of around 10.76% during 2012-14.
