Clariant Oil Services and Swire Energy Services open fully automated
chemical supply base in Norway to support offshore operations.
Dusavik, Norway: Clariant Oil Services, a leading provider of
specialty oilfield production chemicals and services, has strengthened its
presence in Norway’s oil and gas sector with the opening of a new bulk storage
and transfer base in Dusavik, Stavanger. The facility has been developed in
partnership with Swire Energy Services, a long-standing strategic collaborator.
The new site
features multiple bulk storage tanks with fully automated transfer systems
designed to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient chemical deliveries to
offshore vessels and tote tanks. Full operations are scheduled to commence in
September 2025.
“Norway's oil
and gas market is in a significant growth phase, and we are strategically
positioning ourselves to support this expansion,” said Samy El-Khoury,
Head of Oil Services EMEA. “This base represents our commitment to supporting
our customers' growth aspirations in this thriving market.”
The Dusavik
base also incorporates a Quality Control laboratory and administration office,
along with dedicated Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) and tote storage. The
laboratory will conduct a range of quality control assessments, with additional
advanced analysis available at Clariant’s nearby Tananger facility.
Swire Energy
Services will oversee handling and transportation, leveraging its expertise in
managing high-value chemicals to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
“It is really
exciting to see our new facility come on line to support Clariant, a key
partner in the region and globally. The development of the facility has been a
truly collaborative project with the two teams working side by side to support
key customers,” said Bengt Ullenes, General Manager Norway of Swire
Energy Services. “The additional investment in the Norwegian Chemical
management segment complements the work we do along the Norwegian Coastline. We
look forward to the ongoing development of this facility over the coming
years.”
The new base
is expected to play a crucial role in supply and support activities for the
Norwegian North Sea, aligning with the growing demand for oil and gas services
in the region.
According to
TechSci Research, the launch of Clariant Oil Services and Swire
Energy Services’ fully automated chemical supply base in Dusavik, Norway, is
expected to bring significant benefits to the chemical industry. By
incorporating advanced automation for bulk storage and transfer, the facility
enhances safety, efficiency, and accuracy in handling oilfield production
chemicals, reducing risks of contamination or spillage. The integration of a
Quality Control laboratory ensures that products consistently meet stringent
industry standards, further strengthening reliability in supply chains.
Additionally, the consolidation of bulk storage, Intermediate Bulk Containers
(IBCs), and totes within a single facility streamlines logistics, minimizing
operational delays. With Norway’s oil and gas market in a growth phase, this
development positions the chemical industry to better support rising demand in
offshore exploration and production, while fostering innovation in chemical
management and distribution practices.
