Xpeng and NIO Post Record August Sales in China’s EV Market

In
September 2025, Xpeng Inc. ("Xpeng") and Nio Inc., two Chinese
manufacturers of electric vehicles, revealed the outcomes of their August
2025 vehicle deliveries.
August
2025 witnessed an increase in China's electric vehicle market as local
companies established delivery records. Xpeng reported that it sold 37,709
units during the month, the highest monthly total in its history and a 169%
increase year over year. Its next-generation P7 sedan was introduced on August
27 in tandem with the impressive outcome, and deliveries began the following
day.
In
August, NIO delivered 31,305 vehicles, a 55.2% increase over the same period
the previous year, marking its best-ever performance. A significant amount of
this momentum was generated by its new sub-brand Onvo, which set a monthly
record for the company with 16,434 units delivered.
The
strong sales numbers demonstrate how resilient Chinese EV manufacturers are in
the face of pricing pressures and slowing demand growth in certain
international markets. In an effort to
attract domestic consumers, Xpeng and NIO are both keeping up their product
lineup expansions, relying on sophisticated software integration, autonomous
driving capabilities, and aggressive pricing.
August's impressive
performance is a result of both the release of new models that are appealing
and pent-up demand from previous months.
These businesses are aiming to expand internationally as well, with
Europe and Southeast Asia being their primary focus regions as the competition
within China heats up. The August
records highlight China's ongoing supremacy in EV innovation and production
volume worldwide.
