CITIC Envirotech's Subsidiary Memstar Installs New Membrane Production Plant
Singapore: Memstar, a Singapore based
company, involved in the manufacturing of high-end hollow fiber membranes and
membrane products, has invested USD25 million in its new membrane research and
development center and manufacturing unit in order to supply high performance
water solutions globally. The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB)
supports installation of this new plant, which was initiated during Singapore
International Water Week 2016. It is estimated that with the accomplishment of
new production plant, the production capacity of the company’s patented 3rd
generation Thermally Induced Phase Separation (3G-TIPS) membranes will be
doubled to 10 million sq.m. annually. The company has various facilities in the
cities of Sichuan, Jiangsu and Beijing in China, but the new facility is the
only production site for these high-tech membranes. The new technology center
is designed to meet the increasing demand for membrane based water filters
across the world.
TechSci Research depicts that
establishment of a new production plant by Memstar is expected to strengthen the
company’s competitiveness in the international market and improve the position
of the company in the global water purifiers market. In addition, creation of
technical center near to the production site will enable the company to get all
its new technologies tested quickly and commercialize it successfully. The
establishment of membrane production plants would boost the sales of membrane
based water purifiers in the country and globally.
According to the recent report published by TechSci Research, “Global
Residential Water Purifiers Market By Technology, By Function, By Sales Channel, By Region,
Competition Forecast and Opportunities, 2011 - 2021”,
global water purifiers market is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 15% over
the next five years, on account of capability to effectively treat source water
with high TDS (Total Dissolved Solid). Increasing awareness regrading water
borne diseases, rising disposable income and purchasing power of consumers is
also fueling the global water purifiers market. Due to increasing awareness
regrading water borne diseases, rising disposable income and purchasing power
of consumers, use of residential water purifiers is expected to continue
growing through, particularly in Asia-Pacific
