Nissan to roll out India's first hybrid SUV by end of current financial year
India: Japanese passenger car manufacturing Company Nissan
motors will roll out X-Trail Hybrid, India first fully hybrid sport utility
vehicle (SUV), by the end of the current financial year. Nissan will be
introducing its best technology in India which will improve the brand share of
the company.
According
to the, “Guillaume Sicard” president, Nissan India operations, “X-Trail Hybrid,
worldwide popular sport utility vehicle (SUV), especially in the United States,
will be built in India in CBU (completely built unit) form and will be imported
from Japan”. X-Trail Hybrid SUV powered by petrol and electric engines will
give the mileage of over 20 km per litre and presently undergoing testing in
India.
Nissan
motors has sold around 40,000 passenger cars last year in India and believes to
witness increase in this numbers in current year. "Company aim is to reach
around 5% market share in India passenger car market by 2020, which would be around
250,000 passenger cars. Nissan has plans to introduce one new Passenger car
model for Indian market every year, said “Guillaume Sicard”.
According
to the, company spook person, during the last five years, Nissan has invested
around USD916 Million in India and would continue to make investments in India.
Currently, Nissan has one plant in India, located at Chennai, Tamilnadu. The
plant has a capacity to manufacture around 480,000 passenger cars per year and
the company is currently utilising 80% of its production capacity. Company hopes
to reach full capacity in the next couple of years.

further expand company’s penetration in India passenger car market eventually increasing
