BHEL have set a record by commissioning 15 GW Power Generation plant in the FY16
India: Bharat Heavy Electronics
Limited (BHEL), a state run company has set
a new record of commissioning 15 GW power generation capacity worth INR 43,727
crore in the fiscal year 2015-16. With the achievement of 15 GW installed
capacity, BHEL have exceeded the installed base of 170 GW power generating
equipment supplied across the globe. This installed capacity provides the
highest addition of 13,061 MW to the Indian utility segment, which is around 59
percent higher than the previous year.
TechSci Research depicts that the increase in the power generation
capacity in India would drive the demand for Power and Distribution
transformers. Indian government is focused towards expansion of the country’s
T&D network with significantly higher investments in 12th five-year
plan compared to the previous plans, which is expected to result in robust
growth in the power & distribution transformers market over the next five
years. In addition, Indian government is focusing on restructured accelerated
Power development and reforms programme which is aimed at providing basic power
infrastructure to rural inhabitants and households in the country, which will
provide impetus to power and distribution transformers market in India.
According to recently
released TechSci Research report, “India Power and Distribution Transformers Market Forecast and Opportunities, 2020”, the
potential of power & distribution transformers market in India is in a
growing phase and it is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 10% till 2020.
Power transformers contribute a major portion in overall market revenues due to
their higher price points. Under the 12th five-year plan
(2012-2017), Indian government allocated US$ 200 billion for strengthening the
country’s power generation, transmission and distribution sector.
