Hardware industry body MAIT launches Aadhaar authentication featured device
India: The India-based association, MAIT,
which deals in empowering the country’s Information and Technology industry, has
unveiled a fingerprint scanner integrated mobile tablet, in alliance with
Datamini and Intel, in order to upkeep the “Make in India” and “Digital India” initiatives
of the country.
The
tablet can be deployed in various initiatives such as “Pradhaan Mantri Jan Dhan
Yojana (PMJDY) for providing the banking services across the poor population of
urban and rural areas and also for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) through the
Aadhaar-linked savings bank accounts.
In
addition, the product can be deployed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural
Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) for simplifying the wage payments and
also under the National Health Mission (NHM) to observe public health services
and related operations, etc. The product will also help the government in
minimizing the cost of transactions.
In
addition, the MAIT’s President and Intel’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Group & Managing Director for South Asia area, Debjani Ghosh, also stated
that Intel has been associating with the government, civil society as well as
educational organisations to enhance the native societies with emerging
technologies and the launch of this tablet will help the company in taking the
Digital India initiative to a next level.

Research depicts that the launch of specialized mobile tablet will lead the
government towards its aim of making India a digital country by its excessive
deployment across different areas.
The
fingerprint scanner property of the tablet is enabled through biometric
technology. According to the recent report published by TechSci Research “India Biometrics Market Forecast and
Opportunities, 2020”, biometrics
market in India is projected to grow at a robust CAGR of over 35% till 2020.
Growth in the market is anticipated on account of increasing use of various
biometric products in government and BFSI sector across the country. Increasing
use in corporate houses, schools and industries for time and attendance
monitoring, coupled with rising demand from IT / ITeS to authenticate access to
confidential data, are other factors that are expected to propel market growth
over the next five years.
