India: Samsung, Korean electronics giant,
as per its restructuring process is planning to manufacture an exclusive range
of products for the online sales. The company is focusing and designing mobile
phones and TVs, for online sales. Meanwhile, company will hire an online
category head but in future it will have its own sales channel. The company has
realized the potential of online sales as its competitors have been very
successful with their online models.
Last year the smartphone sales were very high in
India and the major chunk was from online channel. People who opt for online
buying are very specific about the requirements and look for prices that are
affordable. So, phone makers will be very particular in addressing these
criteria.
Following the online sales model, companies save
the distribution cost, marketing cost and it can maximise its reach to the
customers who are living in small cities and towns where there are very less or
no retail joints for the purchase.
According to TechSci Research the Indian E-Commerce
market is at its pace reason being the present lifestyle is busy and the
priorities are changing day by day and people are involving in many different
things at a single point of time so they cannot spend much time on shopping
which results in increasing the attraction to online sales. In India where
there are less retail joints and people who are familiar with the latest
technologies are opting for the online sales which on one side saves the time
and on the other side help the companies and the customers to reach each other
easily.
According to a recent report published by TechSci Research “India E-commerce Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2020”, the country’s
e-commerce market is projected to grow at a CAGR of more than 36% during
2015-2020. E-services segment, which comprises online travel, online payments,
