Michelin launches automatic inflation system for truck tires

United States: Michelin in collaboration with Aperia technologies introduced an automatic inflation system for its commercial vehicle tires. As per the company, “Michelin Auto Inflate” is a simple tire management solution that allow vehicles to automatically maintain an optimal tire pressure. The company has initially launched this system for the North American market and assured that any commercial vehicle using this system would be able to reduce operation cost upto USD2,400, by reducing the tire downtime, providing enhanced life and offering fuel efficiency.

The VP, Marketing of Michelin Americas Truck Tires, Mr. Adam Murphy defined this advance technology as a very simple, reliable and good technology.

As per Mr. Josh Carter, the co-founder and CEO of Aperia Technologies, Michelin and Aperia collaborated to devise Michelin Auto Inflate due to their mutual commitment to innovate products and provide service solutions to fleet.

According to a recent report published by Techsci Research, “United States Tyre Market Forecast and Opportunities, 2020”, the US replacement tire market is one of the largest market in the world. In the replacement tire market, retreading of truck tires was observed to be quite strong in US, as an expanding commercial vehicle fleet is becoming more inclined towards such tires due to the comparatively lower price. However, the new technology launched by Michelin would support the commercial vehicle tire market of the country.

As per Techsci Research, the Michelin auto inflate technology, which is designed to work for wide base single as well as dual tires, is likely to gain popularity in North America. Moreover, the company’s self-powered technology could be established in less than ten minutes by using simple tools which mostly don’t require drilling. Furthermore, the auto inflate technology is anticipated to enhance the brand visibility of the company in the entire North American tire market.
