TCS joined General Electric's Digital Alliance Program, to build more IoT solutions
India: India technology giant, Tata
Consultancy Services (TCS) joined hands with General Electric (GE) to train its
additional 1,000 developers in Predix Platform in the current year. GE’s Predix
Platform is the cloud based platform for industrial internet applications which
provide real time operational data analytics for better decisions making.
TCS states that it will be using GE’s
Predix to develop more solutions in Internet of Things (IoT) segment. The
company official says, that TCS already had a large pool of talent trained on
the industrial platform, and the aim to join GE’s Predix Platform is to drive
favorable outcome for the customers.
The company is already leveraging this
platform and has solutions such as Supply Chain Monitoring, Engine Telematics, Satellite
Image Analytics, and Prognostic Maintenance created on Predix.
According to TechSci Research, as the
demand of the IoT solutions among different end users is increasing, the
solution providers are looking for trained talent in the IoT segment. As well,
technology giants such as TCS are providing training to the recruited talent to
build solutions which can meet its customer requirement.
As per the recent report published by TechSci Research “India Internet of Things (IoT) Market Forecast and Opportunities,
2020”, IoT market in India is projected to grow at a CAGR over 28% during 2015-
2020. IoT is being rapidly brought into use across diverse industry verticals
to reduce operational and manpower costs, and increase operational efficiency.
Consumer electronics, automotive & transportation, BFSI, home & building,
energy & utilities, retail, supply chain & logistic sectors, and
manufacturing are the key emerging application areas where IoT technology is
majorly being adopted. However, India’s IoT market is highly fragmented with
numerous players operating across the value chain. As well, need for
standardization of all devices across an IoT ecosystem coupled with favorable
government policy environment are set to fuel growth in the country’s IoT
market over the next five years.
