Mahindra and Mahindra Consolidates Agri Business
Mahindra transfers its agri business to
Mahindra Subhlabh Services Ltd
Mahindra
and Mahindra, India’s homegrown diversified group is consolidating its agri
business under one entity. Company’s board of Directors approved a proposal to
transfer its agri business to Mahindra Shubhlabh Services Ltd (MSSL). The agri
business of the company includes crop care, seeds, pulses, edible oils, basmati
rice, potato, potato flakes and dairy.
The
company aims to revolutionize agriculture value chain by working on its long
term vision of delivering “FarmTech Prosperity”. The group has multiple businesses under different entities;
and bringing them all together would provide the right environment to maximize
synergies and create value for all stakeholders. The agri business would have three brands named Samriddhi
for selling of agri inputs, Saboro for high quality fruits, and NuPro for
pulses and edible oils.
According
to TechSci Research, Agri business
in India has ample opportunities as about 50% of India’s population is
dependent on agriculture. Agri business lacks innovation and Mahindra’s
endeavor is expected to give a boost to the sector. Its businesses have been
one of the largest exporters of the fruit from India to Europe, Middle East,
Russia and South East Asia; and this existing distribution with new
consolidation is projected to give a momentum to India’s exports in agri
products which has not been at par.
