Government of India plans to make public services available on mobile phones
India:
Government of India is focusing to make India – ‘Digital India’. Towards this
goal, Government is now planning to launch all public services availability on
mobile phones in next five years. The common man would be able to reap the
maximum benefit from this initiative as they do not have to pay a visit to
public offices for every work.
The
initiative suggestion has come from the Department of Administrative Reforms
and Public Grievances (DARPG).
Further,
it is anticipated by the DARPG that this initiative will be vital for India to
step up in the ladder of UN e-Government Index.
Department
of Electronics and Information Technology also commented and said that to make
‘Digital India’ program more successful, as well to ensure the efficient and
convenient delivery of public services to the citizens; full utilization of
mobile platform potential is crucial. Further, the requirement of multi-lingual
mobile platform for public services, mobile based authentication, Adhaar-linked
are few aspects which are required.

platform is a major step in the smartphone driven ecosystem. Today’s citizen
demands for system which has the attribute of both convenience and efficiency,
mobile platforms provide the both. Further, from the industry perspective, the

project; especially it provides opportunity for the IT companies which have
strong mobile platform development capabilities to pitch for this project
intensely.
