Google, Lenovo to launch Project Tango Devices
United States: The global technology giant Google, announced
a technology platform and named Project Tango in the year 2014. The Project
Tango uses a combination of sensors and rear cameras in the smartphone or
tablet and detects its position relative to the 3D world around it, without
using GPS or other external signals. This project simplifies the development of
3D indoor maps. Also, the project enables the users to map out their location
by using the mobile device camera.
A
recent teaser released by both Google and Lenovo gives a hint that the
companies will make an announcement concerning project Tango in the CES on 7th
January. The teaser says, ""Mobile devices should see and navigate
the world, the way we do"
It
is anticipated that Google will be utilizing the manufacturing capacity of
Lenovo, and Lenovo will be taking benefits from Google technology innovation
related to Project Tango. According to speculations, the Lenovo will be
launching a mobile device for consumers based on the Project Tango technology.
Last
year, Google launched a tablet development kit based on Project Tango
technology. The kit was powered by the NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor with 4GB RAM
on board, 128GB internal memory, quad-core CPU, and seven inches display with
1080x1920 pixels resolution. The tablet development kit had Android 4.4 is
pre-installed with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE and 4G LTE connectivity and a depth
sensor with two cameras installed. It was priced at $1024. Though Google only
released 200 units of devices.
According
to TechSci Research, it is
anticipated that the Google is planning to launch the Project Tango technology
based mobile devices to the larger audience and joins the synergies to achieve
the same.
