Sentury Tire focuses on establishing a plant at U.S. by 2017

According to the President of Qingdao Sentury Tire Co. Ltd., Lanny Lin, the company has invested an immense budget for several hundred million dollars to establish a passenger tyre manufacturing facility at the United States by the year 2017.

As per Lin’s email to the officials, Rami Helminen, who is formerly serving as the Senior VP of Nokian Tyres P.L.C. has been approached to oversee the company’s expanding assignment. Also, the President declared that Rami would be appointed as the CEO of the United States manufacturing operations.

Moreover, the Chinese tyre maker has the vision of building the most advanced automatic smart tyre facility which would operate along with the existing lines of its plants’ located at China and Thailand. Further, the new plant is targeted to have an annual capacity of 10 million tyres annually.

Currently, the company is looking for a suitable location for establishing its manufacturing facility, wherein, as per the company executives there were possibilities of investing in Georgia, U.S.

Sentury Tire manages two plants situated at Qingdao, China and Rayong, Thailand, wherein, the latter initiated its production earlier this summer with an annual production capacity of almost 12 million units.

Sentury Tire, a subsidiary of Sentaida Group Co. Ltd. started production at its Qingdao plant during 2009 with capacity production for high performance passenger tyres and bias-ply aircraft tyres only. The annual capacity of Qingdao plant after the expansion was listed to be 38 million car tyres and 10,000 aircraft tyres.

Sentury Tires, as of 2015, is marketing under three brands —Delinte, Landsail and Sentury. The company also established its new headquarters in Miami, U.S. in the first half of 2015. Sentury Tire in U.S. was operating through Sentury Tire Americas of Miami, which was being used for warehousing purposes in Miami and Memphis.

The recent report published by TechSci Research, “United States Tyre Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2020”, passenger car tyre segment dominates the US tyre market. US passenger car tyre segment is anticipated to continue dominating the US tyre market during the forecast period. Further, the US is a leading passenger car exporter in the world. Increasing exports of passenger cars is anticipated to boost passenger car production in the country and simultaneously drive OEM demand for passenger car tyres. TechSci Research projects that Sentury Tire initiative of setting up a domestic tyre manufacturing unit in the US would provide a competitive edge among other global rivals like Bridgestone, Goodyear, Michelin, etc.
