Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced a partnership with Jio-bp to
integrate their EV charging networks and expand charging accessibility for
electric vehicle users across India, in a move aimed at reducing
charging-related friction and improving the overall ownership experience. Under
the collaboration, users will be able to discover, access and use Jio-bp pulse
charging stations through the myHyundai app, Hyundai’s integrated EV charging
platform, while Hyundai’s high-capacity chargers will gradually be integrated
into the Jio-bp pulse charge pro app, creating a two-way interoperability
framework. With the addition of more than 7,000 Jio-bp pulse charging points
across over 300 cities, Hyundai’s charging ecosystem now offers access to more
than 37,000 public EV
charging points nationwide. The companies said Jio-bp’s network includes DC
fast chargers ranging from 60 kW to 480 kW and delivers 96% uptime, with many
stations located along major national highways to support both city commuting
and longer-distance travel. The announcement comes as Hyundai continues to
expand its own charging footprint as well, with 183 DC fast-charging stations
currently operational and a target of 600 by 2030, reflecting a broader
strategy to strengthen India’s EV ecosystem through both proprietary
infrastructure and collaborative network access.

to TechSci Research, the Hyundai-Jio-bp partnership
is an important indicator of how India’s
EV market is maturing from a product-led narrative to an ecosystem-led one.
For several years, EV adoption in India has been shaped not only by vehicle
pricing, range and policy incentives, but also by the perceived reliability and
accessibility of public charging infrastructure. As battery technology improves
and urban consumers become more comfortable with electric mobility, the
market’s central concern is shifting from whether EVs can go far enough on a
single charge to whether drivers can easily locate a compatible, functioning
and conveniently placed charger when they need one. This is where the
Hyundai-Jio-bp collaboration becomes strategically meaningful. By integrating
over 7,000 Jio-bp pulse charging points into the myHyundai app and raising
available public charging access on the platform to more than 37,000 points,
Hyundai is strengthening the practical usability of EV ownership rather than

availability of a charger on paper does not always translate into a dependable
user experience in practice. Hyundai’s parallel investment in its own
fast-charging network, with plans to scale from 183 stations to 600 by 2030,
further suggests that the company is pursuing a hybrid infrastructure strategy
that combines owned assets with ecosystem partnerships. That approach may prove
particularly effective in India, where infrastructure expansion requires both
capital efficiency and broad geographic reach.
