Gurugram, India | August 25, 2026: Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced a partnership with Jio-bp to integrate their EV charging networks and expand charging accessibility for electric vehicle users across India, in a move aimed at reducing charging-related friction and improving the overall ownership experience. Under the collaboration, users will be able to discover, access and use Jio-bp pulse charging stations through the myHyundai app, Hyundai’s integrated EV charging platform, while Hyundai’s high-capacity chargers will gradually be integrated into the Jio-bp pulse charge pro app, creating a two-way interoperability framework. With the addition of more than 7,000 Jio-bp pulse charging points across over 300 cities, Hyundai’s charging ecosystem now offers access to more than 37,000 public EV charging points nationwide. The companies said Jio-bp’s network includes DC fast chargers ranging from 60 kW to 480 kW and delivers 96% uptime, with many stations located along major national highways to support both city commuting and longer-distance travel. The announcement comes as Hyundai continues to expand its own charging footprint as well, with 183 DC fast-charging stations currently operational and a target of 600 by 2030, reflecting a broader strategy to strengthen India’s EV ecosystem through both proprietary infrastructure and collaborative network access.

According to TechSci Research, the Hyundai-Jio-bp partnership is an important indicator of how India’s EV market is maturing from a product-led narrative to an ecosystem-led one. For several years, EV adoption in India has been shaped not only by vehicle pricing, range and policy incentives, but also by the perceived reliability and accessibility of public charging infrastructure. As battery technology improves and urban consumers become more comfortable with electric mobility, the market’s central concern is shifting from whether EVs can go far enough on a single charge to whether drivers can easily locate a compatible, functioning and conveniently placed charger when they need one. This is where the Hyundai-Jio-bp collaboration becomes strategically meaningful. By integrating over 7,000 Jio-bp pulse charging points into the myHyundai app and raising available public charging access on the platform to more than 37,000 points, Hyundai is strengthening the practical usability of EV ownership rather than merely adding another brand message around sustainability.

TechSci Research believes this interoperability model is likely to become increasingly important in India, where fragmented charging networks and multiple app interfaces can create friction for users and slow mainstream adoption. The fact that the myHyundai app can be used by EV owners across brands also broadens the significance of the move beyond Hyundai’s immediate customer base and points to a more platform-oriented future for charging access. For Jio-bp, the partnership improves visibility, utilization potential and strategic relevance at a time when charging operators need scale, uptime and consumer trust to stand out in a growing but still uneven infrastructure landscape. The emphasis on high-capacity DC fast chargers, highway presence and 96% uptime also signals a recognition that charger quality and dependability matter as much as raw charger count.

 In TechSci Research’s view, this is a crucial distinction, because the availability of a charger on paper does not always translate into a dependable user experience in practice. Hyundai’s parallel investment in its own fast-charging network, with plans to scale from 183 stations to 600 by 2030, further suggests that the company is pursuing a hybrid infrastructure strategy that combines owned assets with ecosystem partnerships. That approach may prove particularly effective in India, where infrastructure expansion requires both capital efficiency and broad geographic reach. 

More broadly, TechSci Research sees this announcement as part of a wider competitive shift in the Indian EV sector, where automakers, energy companies and infrastructure operators are increasingly differentiating themselves through service integration, digital convenience and confidence-building measures rather than vehicle specifications alone. If replicated successfully across more OEM and charging partnerships, such models could play a meaningful role in reducing charging anxiety, supporting intercity EV usage and accelerating mass-market EV adoption across India.
