RS Pondok Indah Group Achieves Indonesia’s First HIMSS Stage 7 EMRAM Validation

RS Pondok Indah Group becomes Indonesia’s first healthcare provider to achieve HIMSS Stage 7 EMRAM, advancing digital healthcare excellence.

Indonesia:  RS Pondok Indah Group has become the first healthcare organisation in Indonesia to achieve Stage 7 validation under the HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM). The milestone covers its three hospitals – RS Pondok Indah - Pondok Indah, RS Pondok Indah - Puri Indah, and RS Pondok Indah - Bintaro Jaya – making them the most digitally advanced hospitals in the country.

The group’s journey from Stage 6, validated in 2022, required implementing a drug batch number tracking system to enhance adverse event reporting. “This project required a thorough analysis as it involved significant changes to workflows across multiple departments, including physicians, warehouse staff, pharmacy, and nursing,” said CEO Dr Yanwar Hadiyanto.

A key highlight of the validation was the digital patient journey initiative, which reduced no-show rates, improved waiting times, and cut annual call centre costs by IDR 280 million (USD 17,000). “To facilitate this transition, we focused on minimising physical document exchanges, speeding up service processes, reducing no-show rates, enhancing data accuracy, lowering operational costs, and promoting environmentally friendly practices,” noted chief IT officer Imam Daru Nurwijayanto.

HIMSS validators praised innovations such as the “one QR code” outpatient system, bedside Smart Medical Broadcaster, structured clinical documentation, and integrated ICU devices. These advancements enhanced patient safety, data accuracy, and workflow efficiency.

“Achieving HIMSS EMRAM Stage 7 is a significant milestone for our organisation, reflecting our commitment to digital healthcare. We effectively maximised EMR usage, supported by strong data governance, clinical decision support systems, data mobilisation, and interoperability, which led to improved workflow efficiency, enhanced team collaboration, empowered clinicians, and better patient outcomes and engagement,” Dr Hadiyanto added. The group now aims to progress further with an assessment under the HIMSS Digital Health Indicator.

According to TechSci Research, RS Pondok Indah Group’s achievement of HIMSS Stage 7 EMRAM is significant for the global healthcare industry as it showcases how advanced EMR adoption directly improves patient safety, operational efficiency, and care quality. By implementing systems such as drug batch number tracking, integrated ICU device monitoring, structured clinical documentation, and digital patient journey management, the group demonstrated measurable outcomes including reduced appointment no-show rates, shorter wait times, improved data accuracy, and lower operational costs. These results highlight the tangible benefits of digital transformation in healthcare, offering a clear example for other hospitals worldwide to follow. Validation also reinforces the importance of interoperability, clinical decision support, and strong data governance in modern healthcare systems. Such advancements collectively support more reliable patient care, improved workflow collaboration among clinical teams, and better resource utilization, ultimately contributing to higher standards of healthcare delivery across the industry.
