Shenzhen, China – June 30, 2025: At the
Digital Transformation World (DTW) 2025 event, Huawei, in partnership with TM
Forum, officially released two pivotal standard reports aimed at redefining the
trajectory of Business Support Systems (BSS) and digital marketplaces in the
telecom industry. The two reports—AI for BSS and Software Marketplaces
Reference Architecture—are positioned as strategic tools to assist
Communication Service Providers (CSPs) in achieving digital agility,
operational efficiency, and new revenue models through AI and ecosystem
collaboration.
These releases are part of Huawei’s
broader “Application Software AI Commercial Blueprint” and its R.A.P.I.D.
strategy—an acronym for Reliable, Affordable, Productive, Integrated, and
Definitive. This initiative represents Huawei’s comprehensive commitment to
transforming the telecom software domain using cutting-edge artificial
intelligence technologies and open digital frameworks.
The AI for BSS report is a result of
extensive collaboration between Huawei, TM Forum, global CSPs, and ecosystem
vendors. It provides a structured, actionable roadmap for evolving legacy BSS
systems into intelligent, AI-driven platforms. The report identifies key pain
points currently plaguing the BSS domain—particularly within areas such as
Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Charging and Billing Systems (CBS), and
Artificial Intelligence Contact Centers (AICC). By incorporating real-world
insights and operational requirements, the report empowers CSPs to enhance
automation, improve customer experience, and increase monetization
capabilities.
The second report, Software Marketplaces
Reference Architecture, focuses on enabling telecom operators to design and
deploy digital marketplaces that cater to small and medium-sized enterprise
(SME) clients. Developed using TM Forum’s Open Digital Architecture (ODA) and
Open APIs, the reference architecture draws from Huawei’s experience with its
own Enterprise Ecosystem Management (EEM) platform. The result is a
standardized, scalable model for building software marketplaces that foster
seamless integration with third-party partners and support the rapid onboarding
of SME applications.
Both reports come at a critical time
when the global telecom industry is undergoing aggressive digital
transformation. The fusion of AI with open, componentized digital architecture
marks a significant step forward in the modernization of telecom infrastructure.
As CSPs face mounting pressure to diversify revenue streams and elevate
customer engagement, Huawei’s strategic reports serve as crucial blueprints to
navigate this evolution.
With these
contributions, Huawei and TM Forum continue to reinforce their positions as
leaders in setting digital transformation standards, further enabling the
telecom industry to embrace next-generation, AI-first software environments.
