12 June 2025, In a
strategic move to diversify into high-growth sectors, SG Mart has formally
entered the renewable energy domain with the launch of APL Apollo SunSteel, a
dedicated range of solar module mounting structures. This expansion not only
reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting India’s clean energy
transition but also highlights its ability to leverage core strengths in steel
sourcing, procurement, and nationwide distribution.
The market has responded
swiftly and positively. SG Mart has already secured confirmed orders worth INR
266 crore (USD 30.9 million) (excluding GST) from various Independent Power
Producers (IPPs) across India, demonstrating strong demand and immediate
acceptance of its new offering. The company has begun fulfilling these orders,
with initial shipments and deliveries already underway.
SG Mart’s foray into renewable
energy is a strategic extension of its capabilities in construction materials
and industrial sourcing. Its well-developed supply chain, combined with robust
relationships with EPC contractors, infrastructure developers, and energy
companies, enables the company to meet the increasing demand for reliable,
high-quality solar mounting structures. Manufactured using high-grade steel, a
segment in which SG Mart has long-standing expertise, the APL Apollo SunSteel
products are designed for durability, strength, and performance in diverse
field conditions.
“This is a pivotal step in SG
Mart’s growth journey,” said Shiv Bansal, Joint Managing Director of SG Mart.
“We are receiving highly encouraging responses from IPPs and EPC contractors
nationwide. The strong demand reinforces our strategic decision to enter the
renewable energy sector. With our deep capabilities in steel procurement and
our widespread distribution network, we are well-positioned to scale this
segment rapidly.”
The initiative aligns with SG
Mart’s broader vision of entering sunrise industries—sectors projected to lead
India’s economic and industrial growth over the next decade. As the Indian
government places increased emphasis on solar energy and sustainability, SG
Mart’s entry is both timely and strategically sound.
SG Mart continues to build on
its legacy as a leading B2B platform, offering a wide spectrum of
construction-related solutions from top brands. With strategically located
warehouses in Pune, Bangalore, Dujana, and Raipur, the company ensures
efficient inventory management and last-mile delivery across the country. This
infrastructure backbone is expected to play a key role in expanding its
renewable energy portfolio. With the launch of APL Apollo SunSteel, SG Mart not
only opens a new vertical within its product portfolio but also reaffirms its
status as an agile, future-ready enterprise committed to supporting India's
sustainable growth ambitions.
