GoTo Completes Strategic Migration of On-Demand Services to Tencent Cloud''s Indonesia Data Center, Enhancing Data Sovereignty and System Performance

JAKARTA, Indonesia, June 5, 2025, Tencent Cloud, the cloud division of global tech leader Tencent, and GoTo Group, Indonesia’s largest digital ecosystem, today announced the successful migration of GoTo’s On-Demand Services systems to Tencent Cloud’s local data center in Jakarta. This move strengthens GoTo’s commitment to data sovereignty while significantly optimizing application performance.
The migration marks a major milestone in GoTo’s comprehensive cloud relocation strategy—one of the most extensive and technically complex transitions ever undertaken in Southeast Asia. Despite the cross-border and multi-cloud environment, the migration encompassed over 1,000 microservices and was completed in just 4 hours and 54 minutes—over an hour ahead of schedule. Over eight months of preparation, engineering teams from GoTo and Tencent Cloud conducted in-depth research, stress testing, and collaborative planning. Utilizing more than 50 Tencent Cloud products—including Cloud Virtual Machine, Cloud Block Storage, Web Application Firewall, Tencent Kubernetes Engine, and Elasticsearch Service—the teams executed multiple rehearsals to ensure a seamless and secure migration. The migration was powered by advanced migration technologies capable of live system transfers across data centers. These tools supported more than 10 database types and offered capabilities such as high-efficiency data replication, disaster recovery, and rollback functionality—ensuring operational resilience throughout the process.
To support this initiative, Tencent Cloud expanded its local infrastructure in Indonesia by adding a third availability zone in Jakarta, which is now fully operational. Concurrently, GoTo optimized and re-architected key components of its foundational platform, paving the way for enhanced scalability and future innovation.
This successful collaboration underscores both companies' commitment to technological excellence, data governance, and long-term digital growth in Indonesia
