National Cyber Security Lab Launched at National University of Singapore

National Research Foundation (NRF) funded USD8.4 million for National Cyber Security lab 

Singapore: National University of Singapore (NUS), a publicly funded autonomous university, recently formed the national laboratory to provide realistic environment for cyber security research and test-budding of solution against cyber threats. The National Research Foundation (NRF) has funded USD8.4 million for the National Cybersecurity Research & Development lab. This cybersecurity lab is have over thousand computers that are used to outdo various large scale malicious attacks.

The infrastructure of cybersecurity lab has already been tapped by various research institutions and industry players for approximately 20 projects, including the cloud data storage safeguards and software security improvements. The cyber security lab will be equipped with large collection of research and education purposes documents and material.       

As per NRF’s Director of Programmes, George Loh, "This will facilitate innovation and translation of R&D capabilities in Singapore into solutions that can be deployed globally, helping to strengthen Singapore's position as a cybersecurity R&D hub," he added

Last year, in October, NUS & NRF also partnered with local telco Singtel to introduce corporate cyber security lab by pumping overall USD43 million over a span of five years.

TechSci Research depicts that development of cyber security lab in Singapore will facilitate innovation and research to support Singapore’s position as a cybersecurity R&D hub. Cybersecurity services would play a vital role in protecting personal and corporate information from data theft as breaching of information is highly susceptible to internet users specifically financial transactions. With such enhancements, the market of cyber security is expected to increase in coming years across the country.
