Linde Korea Completes Acquisition of Air Liquide Korea in South Korea

South Korea: Linde Korea, a member of The Linde Group, announced its takeover of Air Liquide Korea’s industrial merchant and electronics on-site and liquid bulk air gases business in South Korea. The takeover includes the ten sites owned by Air Liquide Korea which is a perfect fit to complement Linde's existing presence and offerings in the country. Also, the acquisition of the direct bulk business of Air Liquide aligns with Linde's strategy of growing its local direct bulk supply network and customer base in the country. The takeover highlights Linde's focus on being the foremost player to serve the demands for industrial air gas products in the electronics, chemicals and manufacturing industries. Takeovers often lead to an increased value generation for the company along with consolidating the product offerings and provide cost synergies to better compete with other players operating in the space.

TechSci Research depicts that takeovers generally succeed in generating cost efficiency through the implementation of economies of scale. Increasing government focus across various major developed as well as developing countries towards developing gas based power generation resources and water distribution infrastructure is driving the global helium market. Furthermore, growing use of helium in various application areas such as electronics, cryogenics, leak detection, pressure and purging, etc., is further anticipated to boost global helium market during next five years.

According to released report of TechSci Research “Global Helium Market By Type (Liquid & Gaseous), By Application (MRI & NMR, Semi-Conductors & Optic Fibres, Pressurizing & Purging, Welding, etc.), By Distribution (Onsite, Packaged, Merchant), By Region, Competition Forecast & Opportunities, 2021, global helium market is forecast to exhibit a CAGR of 6.4% during 2016 - 2021, owing to growing use of gaseous helium in semiconductors, leak detection and welding applications.
