NXP Semiconductors Partnered with eSSys to Deliver Intelligent Transportation Technology to Korea Government
Seoul: NXP Semiconductors N.V. partnered with eSSys, a Korea based automotive
electronic systems providing company to deliver intelligent transportation
technology for Cooperative Intelligent Transportation System (C-ITS) project.
C-ITS project is promoted by Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and
Transport.
Under this partnership, NXP would
provide RoadLINK V2X chipset, a
Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communication, to
eSSys. The combined security solution would be tested on 87.8 km route between
Sejong City and Daejon. The pilot project would commence its operation in July,
2016.
TechSci Research depicts that rising
number of road accidents due to increasing traffic congestion along with high
impacts over the country’s economy. Rising ned for traffic management to
improve traffic flow and reduce carbon emission would drive the full-deployment
of C-ITS project in South Korea, after successful completion of C-ITS pilot
project.
According to the recent report published
by TechSci Research, “Global
Intelligent Transportation Systems Market By System (ATMS, ATPS,
ATIS, etc.), By Application (Traffic Management, Electronic Toll Management,
Parking Management, etc.) and Competition Forecast and Opportunities, 2010-2020” the global ITS market is poised to
grow at CAGR of over 10% during 2015 - 2020. With the market being too
fragmented, a large number of players are engaged in offering ITS solutions
across the globe. Moreover, Asia-Pacific offers huge future growth opportunities
for ITS deployments, and consequently, is expected to outperform the broader
market. Rising concerns associated with vehicular emissions are also
influencing ITS strategic plan of various major economies, and this is expected
to have a positive impact on global ITS market during the forecast period.
