Praxiar to buy Liquid Helium from Polsike Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA
Poland:
Industrial gas producer
and supplier Praxiar Inc. signed an agreement with Polskie Gornictwo Naftowe i
Gazownictwo SA to purchase liquid helium from the latter. The move is in sync
with the company’s aim to better serve its huge global client base. The
contract would enhance Praxair’s helium-supply capabilities, thereby helping it
meet the growing global demand for the product. Praxiar will be able to
increase its market share in Western and Central Europe after this deal.
Earlier in Sep 2015, Praxair had signed a long-term agreement with Castleton
Commodities International for refining and purchasing helium from the latter.
Techsci Research depicts that few of the
major players operating in the global helium market include Air Liquide, Air
Products & Chemicals, Praxiar and Linde. Polsike Gornictwo Naftowe, the
sole producer of helium in Central Europe, is one of the leading companies
operating in the Polish natural gas market. The firm extracts and refines
helium from gases produced in its natural gas fields.
According to a recently released report of TechSci Research, “Global Helium Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2019”, the
global helium market revenues are expected to grow at a CAGR of about 8%
through 2019. However, in volume terms, global helium market is projected to
grow at a relatively lower CAGR. In 2013, the United States led the helium
market in terms of production, followed by Qatar, Algeria, Russia, Poland and
Australia. Over the forecast period, the consumption of helium is expected to
radically increase in Asia-Pacific on account of growing semiconductor
manufacturing industry and rapidly advancing healthcare sector in the region.
