China to have world’s largest air purifiers
China:
In 2014, Beijing, capital of China was declared the most
polluted city in the world by World Health Organization (WHO), which was
totally covered by smog. With increasing demand of air purifiers by commercial
& residential sectors in the country, coupled with increasing government
initiatives to decrease the level of air pollution, has forced to increase the
market of air purifiers in China in 2015.
Soon, the country will have smog free
towers in inner-city parks, streets, etc., where the pollution level is high.
The towers will produce bubbles of clean air, which will get mix with the small
particulate matters, and will be as efficient as small air purifiers, will help
in decreasing pollution levels of the areas. The tower is designed by Dutch
designer Daan Roosegaarde and his team of experts, and owns the patent
technology of the World’s largest air purifiers. Studio Rossegaarde is
promoting Smog Free Project in the world, so that, the pollution level can be
reduced in the globe.
In China, the tour will arrive in
September, first in Beijing only, which will be comprising of ION technology,
and runs on 1,400 watts of power. The work of the tower is to absorb the small
pollution particles, and to clean the air up to 75%. The height of the tower is
7 meters, and can the clean around 30,000 cubic meters of air each hour.
Low-income cities are the most affected
areas, 98% of cities are not meeting WHO air quality guidelines. As compared to
56% of cities of high-income cities.
According to a recent report published by TechSci Research “China Air Purifiers
Market Forecast and Opportunities, 2020”, the country’s air purifiers market is projected to register a CAGR of
more than 34% during 2015-20. Chinese air purifiers market is dominated by HEPA
based air purifiers, and their dominance is expected to continue over the
coming five years. Patented technologies such as Ultra-Efficient Formaldehyde
Catalytic Oxidation (UFCO), Plasma cluster technology, Nanoe G, HEPA Silent
technology and Photo-Catalysis are also expected to gain stronger foothold in
the Chinese market in the coming years. Among various end-user segments, the
demand for air purifiers is anticipated to grow from residential sector on the
heels of growing income levels, investments, and sentience about pollution
related diseases. Philips is the leading company in China air purifiers market,
which is expected to continue its dominance over the market during the forecast
period.
“Instead of being a luxury product, air purifiers
are being viewed as a necessity in China due to rising air pollution across
cities and towns. Residential as well commercial users are increasingly
adopting air purifiers for maintaining a cleaner, less-polluted environment.
This is increasing the proliferation of air purifiers across China and making
air purifier a widely-needed consumer product in the country.” said Mr. Karan
Chechi, Research Director with TechSci Research, a global management consulting
firm.
According to TechSci
Research, the companies should try to focus and develop technologies such as
these towers, which helps in decreasing pollution level, not only of separate
and individual areas, but as a whole around the surrounding including park and
streets. The trend of using the combination of multiple technologies such as
HEPA & Activated Carbon, HEPA & Ion Ozone, HEPA, Activated Carbon &
ION Ozone, Etc., to increase the efficiency of air purifiers, can also applied
here, as when technologies are combined, performance increases. Coupled with
increasing government initiatives to decrease the pollution level of China,
will help in increasing the market for air purifiers in the country in the
forecast period.
