Snapdeal enters into online services by partnering with Cleartrip, Zomato, redBus and UrbanClap for food ordering and flight ticket bookings
India: Snapdeal has announced
its entry into online services such as bus and flight ticket bookings, food
ordering and hotel reservations and will become the first e-commerce
marketplace to introduce such services. Snapdeal has launched these services in
partnership with Cleartrip,
Zomato, redBus and UrbanClap. In the start of 2016, Snapdeal had introduced recharges and
bill payments services, and registered more than one million transactions
within a month of the launch.
The company has plans
to add leading service providers from other categories in order to offer a
single point access to its customers to widest range of services. The
introduction of such services on Snapdeal is a big step taken by the company in
catering all the consumption needs of the customers.
According to TechSci Research, the Indian E-Commerce market is growing
at a rapid pace owing to busy lifestyle and changing priorities of consumers.
Moreover, attractive discounts and hassle free shopping experience are few of
the key factors which have been propelling online sales industry. In India, consumers
who are familiar with the latest technologies are opting for the online sales
which on one side saves the time and on the other side help the companies and
the customers to reach each other easily. Therefore, the partnership of
Snapdeal with other online companies would allow customers to order food
quickly and easily and booking tickets conveniently.
According to a recent report published by TechSci Research, “India E-commerce Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2020”, the country’s
e-commerce market is projected to grow at a CAGR of more than 36% during
2015-2020. E-services segment, which comprises online travel, online payments,
online classifieds, etc., is expected to continue its domination through 2020.
However, the e-tail segment that includes electronics, apparels &
accessories, health and personal care, etc., is expected to witness
significantly higher market growth compared to e-services segment over the next
five years. During 2015-20, the western region is expected to remain the
largest e-commerce market in the country. Major players operating in India’s
e-tail market include Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon.
