BMW, Intel and Mobileye Collaborating for Self-Driving Car Technology

States: BMW AG, Intel Corp. and Mobileye NV are joining hands to
develop autonomous car. This is the most recent advancement in which automakers
and technology firms are striking new alliances to commercialize self-driving
technology after being initiated by huge investments from companies such as
Google, Tesla and Apple. This tie is likely to focus on technology being
developed by Mobileye and Intel along with German car maker BMW.
Jerusalem based Mobileye NV, is a top supplier
of camera based sensor, software and other technology that allow vehicle to
observe the world around them. BMW, General Motors and Tesla Motors Inc. has been
client of Mobileye NV. As the automobile companies are in race with each other
to build system to replace human drivers through some sort of artificial
intelligence. Mobileye has already announced partnership with General Motors,
Volkswagen AG and Nissan to design technology for mapping technology for
gathering crowd sourced real time data from automaker fleet of vehicles.
Intel is the world’s biggest chipmaker and
has a wide control over the computer processor market. The company has
introduced some advance technology by modernizing features of dashboard by
producing components inside entertainment and information technology in the
automobiles.

Fully-Autonomous”, global autonomous car technology market is
expected to witness a CAGR of over 10% through 2035. The market is currently
dominated by ADAS segment, which is expected to maintain its dominance over the
next twenty years as well. The dominance of this segment can be attributed to
anticipated increase in government regulations pertaining to integration of
ADAS technologies in passenger cars.
