Acer and Starbreeze Teamed Up to Form a Joint-Venture Company
Sweden: Computer hardware manufacturing
company, Acer and software developer Starbreeze has partnered to form a new
joint-venture company, Acer Starbreeze
Corporation for design, manufacturing, promotion, marketing and sales of StarVR Virtual Reality Head-Mounted Display.
Acer
and Starbreeze would hold 50:50 shares in the new joint-venture company. Acer
Starbreeze Corporation currently has authorized capital of USD25 Million which
is shared equally between both companies. On the basis of capital needs and
planned schedule, more funds will be added by Acer and Starbreeze to the
joint-venture company.
StarVR
Virtual Reality Head Mounted Display is designed for location-based
entertainment venues, such as IMAX theatres, arcades, and so on. Starbreeze has
planned to ship a small number of StarVR headsets in 2016, however the complete
full production of StarVR headsets would begin in 2017.
