ABB completes the upgradation of Celilo high voltage direct current (HVDC) converter station in Oregon
USA: ABB has completed the
upgradation of Celilo high voltage direct current (HVDC) converter station in
Oregon and has been handed over to the state utility Bonneville Power
Administration (BPA), a power marketing agency under the US Department of
Energy. The upgradation of the converter station has resulted in enhancement of
the capacity from 3100 MW to 3800 MW. The
station upgradation includes key components such as valves, controls and
transformers as well as switchgear and cooling equipment.
TechSci Research finds out that global power
and distribution transformers market is on the verge of expansion on account of
increasing demand of electricity and development of power infrastructure which
includes development of new assets and upgradation of existing ones. The growth
in demand for electricity is spurred by increasing population and industrial
expansion all over the world. The upgradation of existing infrastructure
results in replacement of ageing transformers with new ones which is a big
boost for power and distribution transformers market. The enhancement in the
power transmission capacity requires installation of higher capacity
transformers in the network to meet the requirements of power transmission.
According to released report of TechSci Research “Global
Power and Distribution Transformers Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2020”, the market for power transformer will grow
at a CAGR of 6.2% during 2015-20 and distribution transformer will grow at a
CAGR of 5.1% in the same period. The development in power infrastructure will
result in surge in the market for power and distribution transformers.
