DMack Tyres is planning to establish a new tire plant in England
United
Kingdom: As per the senior official of the company, DMack Tyres
headquartered in England, is planning a greenfield tire plant in the country
considering the ongoing World Rally Championships. Although the company is
already conducting a feasibility check to finalize the establishment of the
facility, DMack is estimating to capitalize a sum total of about USD440 million
in the project. The plant is likely to run at a production capacity of about 2
million tire units per year.
While discussing about the upcoming facility,
the company’s Communications Director, Glenn Patterson stated “We are going
through a period of development and evolution and are planning to improve our
brand to compete with the likes of Pirelli and Michelin. Moreover, the company
currently manufactures a small amount of tires in the United Kingdom, at Cooper
Tire’s factory in Melksham, Wiltshire. But we plan to increase our capacity for
premium tires in the U.K., and that’s why we are building the plant.”
Since 2011, the company has been supplying its
flagship, competition rally tires, which are largely sourced from Shandong
Yongtai Chemical Group based in Dongying Province of China.
The potential location for the tire plant is
planned to be in Carlisle, a town in northwest England. However, an another
location in southern England is also being considered by the company officials.
As per Patterson, the to-be launched plant would specialize in manufacturing
passenger car tires along with motor sport tires. Also, DMack has plans to employ
500 people by the time, the company would be running at full efficiency.
According to a recent report published by TechSci Research, “United Kingdom Tire Market Forecast and Opportunities, 2021” United
Kingdom’s tire market can be segregated into regions of England, Scotland,
Wales and Northern Ireland, wherein, England is the largest region in terms of
population and area. England accounts for the highest number of vehicles in the
UK and contributes more than four-fifth of the total tire demand across the United
Kingdom.
As per TechSci Research, DMack does not rank among the top 10 prominent
tire players in the United Kingdom industry, however, the company is about to
cater the demand of tires by targeting the largest vehicle segment of the
country, i.e. passenger cars, in coming years. By establishing a new tire plant
in England, the company would able to form its own brand identity in United
Kingdom.
