Toyota to launch petrol variant of Innova Crysta around Diwali
India: Toyota’s wildly popular MPV, Innova,
recently received a wild update by the company in the form of the Innova
Crysta. To resuscitate sales across Delhi-NCR as well as in Kerala on the verge
of banning on diesel vehicles, Toyota is developing a 2.7-litre petrol engine
version of Innova by the name of Innova Crysta.
The
Toyota Innova Crysta, currently, has been launched in India with two diesel
engine options, a 2.4-litre and a 2.8-litre
engine. However, since December’ 2015
the Supreme Court has imposed the ban on diesel car sale in the Delhi-NCR, the
sales of the Innova Crysta have taken a drastic hit across the region. Considering
the demand of Innova Crysta, especially in NCR region, the company manufacturer
would now be introducing a petrol variant of the same car, by the festive
season of Diwali.
The development of new
Innova model has been expedited, as the R&D department of the company is
working in combination with Japanese engineers. Moreover, in the international
market of Thailand and Indonesia, Innova Crysta is already being sold in a
2.0-litre petrol engine version.
As of May 2016, the
price of Toyota Innova Crysta, 2.4-litre diesel
variant starts at around USD20.65 thousand and the 2.8-litre diesel variant costs up to USD30.90 thousand (both prices
are ex-showroom price in Delhi). The Toyota Innova Crysta, diesel variant, faces a tough competition from Mahindra
Scorpio, XUV 5OO, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Honda Mobilio, etc. in the SUV &
MPV segment. Toyota is looking forward for a good growth, once the company
launches the petrol variant of Innova Crysta in Indian market.
