Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited (BHEL) announces commissioning of 800 MW supercritical thermal unit in Karnataka
India: Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited, a
state-owned enterprise commissioned an 800 MW unit at Raichur district of
Karnataka. The unit commissioned is a part of 2x800 MW Yemarus Thermal Power
Station. The second unit of Yemarus is also under the final stage of completion.
BHEL was responsible for designing, manufacturing and commissioning of
generators and turbines in the plant accompanied by civil works associated with
the construction of plant.
Techsci
Research depicts that the development of new unit Yemarus power plant will
foster the growth of power sector in the state. It will help in meeting the
growing demand for electricity due to rising consumption. The development of
projects will lead to the construction power Transmission and Distribution(T&D)
network needed for evacuation of power from generating stations to the end
customers. Power Transmission and Distribution transformers are a critical
component of T&D network. The development of power transmission and
distribution infrastructure will pave the way for growth of power and
distribution transformer sector in the country.
According
to a recently released report of TechSci
Research, “India
Power & Distribution Transformers Market Forecast
& Opportunities, 2020”, the
power and distribution transformers market in India is projected to grow at a
CAGR of over 10% till 2020. Power transformers contribute a major portion in
overall market revenues due to their higher price points. Under the 12thfive
year plan (2012-2017), Indian government allocated US$ 200 billion for
strengthening the country’s power generation, transmission and distribution
sector.
