BMW all set to launch their first self-driving car in 2021
Germany: The
news came from the BMW headquarters based in Munich, Germany where the plan for
future auto releases was rolled out in the Annual Shareholder Meeting and the
plans for the launch of company’s first all-electric autonomous car was
unveiled.
The company has been continuously innovating
on this concept of developing cars that run on alternate fuel. During the
current year, In March the company launched its Vision Vehicle, known as the
BMW Vision Next 100 in Beijing. Another significant model that ruled the market
was their first revolutionary electric vehicle, the BMW i8 and the company has
been successfully sold 50,000 vehicles till now.
The iNext will be “our new innovation driver,
with autonomous driving, digital connectivity, intelligent lightweight design,
a totally new interior and ultimately bringing the next-generation of
electro-mobility to the road,” said Harald Krueger, CEO of the company. The
iNext will be an addition under the German car maker’s “i” sub brand, which has
the i3 EV and i8 plug-in hybrid currently in the market.
Although, BMW is not the only company that is
targeting this concept of autonomous technology, recently Google and Fiat
Chrysler Automobiles announced their partnership for launching this technology
into Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans by 2017.
According to a recent report published by TechSci Research, “Global

Globally, the automobile sector has been constantly evolving in terms of engine

The global autonomous car technology market is expected to witness a CAGR of
over 10% through 2035. The market is currently dominated by ADAS segment, which
is expected to maintain its dominance over the next twenty years as well. The
dominance of this segment can be attributed to anticipated increase in
government regulations pertaining to integration of ADAS technologies in
passenger cars.
As
