BHEL announces commissioning of 500 MW power plant in Jharkhand
India:
Bharat Heavy
Electronics Limited, a state owned corporation, commissioned 500 MW unit at
Bokaro Thermal Plant of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) increasing its share to
up to 84% of DVC’s total generating capacity. The project has been set up under
Engineering, Construction and Procurement Contract. BHEL aims to provide 87% of
total installed capacity in Jharkhand and is also planning to set up 1980 MW
plant in Kharanpura, Jharkhand.
TechSci Research depicts that
commissioning of thermal power plant unit and company’s ambitious plans to set
up more plants in Jharkhand will provide opportunities to manufactures engaged
in the manufacturing of power plant equipment thus paving the way for the
growth of power and distribution industries in the region. It will also lead to
the growth of transmission and distribution network needed to supply power from
the generating stations giving access to electricity in rural parts of
Jharkhand.
According to TechSci
Research report “India
Power & Distribution Transformers Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2020”, the power and distribution transformers
market in India is projected to grow at a CAGR of over 10% till 2020. Power
transformers contribute a major portion in overall market revenues due to their
higher price points. Under the 12thfive year plan (2012-2017),
Indian government allocated US$ 200 billion for strengthening the country’s
power generation, transmission and distribution sector. One of the major
developments underway includes the country’s shift from 765 kV to 1200 kV power
transmission.
