Tata motors to introduce autonomous features in its cars
India: Modulating
itself according to the technology driven industry, Tata motors is planning to
introduce driver assistance features in its models. The global auto industry is
investing significantly in terms of resources and time to advance the
autonomous car technology.
The leading player of autonomous car industry
are OEM like Daimler (Mercedes-Benz), Audi, BMW, JLR, Volvo, etc. who are
joined by non-automotive players like Google and Apple. Tata motors is also
keeping a close check on the developments of self-driving cars so that it can
make a perfect start at the right time.
According to Dr. Tim Leverton, Head –
Advanced Product Engineering for Tata Motors, stated that the global automakers
are very keen for making their impression in the autonomous car industry and it
important for Indian car makers to understand the technology as the demand will
come to Indian markets also.
Tata will take best advantage of its
expertise at its subsidiary, Jaguar Land Rover, which is on course of
developing its own autonomous car technology, and hope to be benefitted from
the competence of its IT wing TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) in the field of
robotics.
According to a recent report published by TechSci Research, “Global Autonomous Car Technology Market
Forecast and Opportunities, 2035 – ADAS, Semi-Autonomous, Fully-Autonomous” the
evolution of autonomous features in passenger cars is garnering attention of
consumers across the world and looking at the pace of autonomous car industry,
it is said that fully-autonomous cars are expected to be commercially available
by 2025, which is expected to translate into dramatic growth in the market.
As per TechSci Research, this move taken by
Tata motors is also going to drive the demand for autonomous cars in India.
However, it is expected that it will surely take some years before such
technologies become practical and cost effective for Indian market condition.
